 To ensure optimum handling of freighter aircraft given Bahrain's role as a center for air cargo in the region, Bahrain Airport Services manages the 7,200 sqm Cargo Terminal at Bahrain International Airport.The Department provides services to both scheduled and charter operators. Break bulk services for consolidators, a bonded warehouse for specialist companies, export cargo sales, transshipments, inter-airport trucking, customs clearance and other essential services are also offered to freighter aircraft flying in and out of Bahrain.
Expected to handle in excess of 100,000 tones of cargo per annum in the near future, we are prepared as a Department for the anticipated growth in cargo traffic. Needless to say, our round-the-clock service and commitment is unqualified and total, ensuring smooth turn- around for all types of aircraft flying through Bahrain. |
The 6000 sqm closed warehouse has a storage capacity of 60,000 tones per annum. We have maximized this space by the use of the six tier, high level racking arrangement. Provided with a freezer of 1000 kgs capacity, two chillers of 24,000 kgs capacity and a cold room of 40,000 kgs capacity, perishables are handled in a controlled environment. The additional 1200 sq meters are at present used primarily for Bonded Storage.
Employing a 3 level ULD systems, the cargo facility is installed with modern handling equipment such as high-level rackstore stickers, forklifts from 1 to 7 tones capacity, powered roller beds, elevated transfer vehicles, UHF radio communication and two weigh bridges. Special storage facilities are available in designated areas for dangerous goods, livestock (air conditioned room), radioactive cargo, valuable cargo and a separate area for diplomatic and air mail.
